The Bronx: Garifuna

The Garinagu (plural for Garifuna) are an indigenous people originally from the Caribbean but most now live in Honduras. The Bronx is home to one of the larger populations of Garinagu outside of Honduras.

Here, older generations are afraid their culture is being lost as their children adapt to American society. This project focuses on a family whose younger members are not only proud of their culture but are working to represent and preserve it.
